ABOUT ME, SANDY
I left Art College over 40 years ago, with distinctions in Display and Presentation and armed with a combination of transferable skills including: technical drawing, 2-point hand drawn perspectives, colour visuals, graphic design and prop building. From landing the first bathroom designer role for London’s premier bathroom emporium, C.P.Hart, over the ensuing years, I have worked in a variety of designer roles for various luxury independent Kitchen Bathroom and Bedroom (KBB) suppliers, before becoming self employed as an independent designer. With this, I bring you extensive knowledge, as well as a talent for creating unique sustainable design solutions. I have been nominated as finalist for a number of industry design contributions and I have been a regular contributor of articles to KBB industry publications on a variety of topics including environmental and sustainability issues.
HOW IT WORKS
I can design for you whether you live locally to Colchester or somewhere more remote – in fact, as long as you have access to the internet, I can help you realise your space whenever you are! My ability to design for you is not challenged by distance. A current project has involved a design of not just the kitchen and bathroom, but the whole floor plan of a heritage bungalow in Melbourne, Australia, where all contact has been remote.
I create my designs on an award-winning computer system called Winner by Compusoft which has superb photorealistic 3D images. Through this I can generate detailed plans and elevations as well as visual renders, showing how the designed space will feel to live in. I can also demonstrate designs through hand drawings as the specific design requires.
I will want to know all about your project should you instruct me to go ahead, but to start with I offer an initial consultation / chat / talk / listen by telephone or zoom / whatsapp free of charge for up to an hour, to see how I might be able to help you. This may include you walking me through your space. If you are within a 20 mile radius of Colchester, there will be a small fee for a visit refundable if you proceed to instruct me to produce plans.
What are my design fees?
My fees vary and depend upon the size of the room (or rooms/extension) and the complexity of your brief and whether I am coming to your home to do a full survey, or whether you’d like online design where I will be using your measurements. In each case, I am conscious of the amount of care, attention and detail you will receive from having me prepare your design. My fees are designed to reflect this. Prices are on application in each case and subject to detailed discussion, but as a guide you can expect a home survey and design for a kitchen to be between £900 and £1400.
I may well see more than one solution for your space so up to three layout ideas will not incur extra charge. Giving you options for the space can be very important to exhaust all possibilities and land you with your ideal solution. Additional meetings or excessive requested multiple revisions (say over 4) may incur additional fees. I will be able to see this coming if it does, and be able to discuss it with you in advance.
